Black Basalt is our stone of choice because:
Basalt is a very hard and durable stone. Polished Basalt has deep visual characteristics and a soft texture to it surface that begs to be touched. Pillars offer picturesque height, angular corners, undulating flat surfaces on the facets or sides and sensuously curved fractures. On the outside there is a layer of brown oxidation. Underneath the oxidation is dense black stone. This contrast can lead to great versatility for a wide array of styles and aesthetic applications. Basalt is naturally beautiful, but with a little help from the artist's hand they can be transformed into sculpted pieces of art. Our unique process uses cutting, drilling and multistage hand polishing until the surfaces are smooth and glossy black.
Carved shapes can be textured, smoothed or polished for a wide range of contrasting effects. Etched patterns trace out white features against the dark polished backgrounds. Gravity and light play with the cascading water in fountains, sheets, pools, and dancing bubbles while offering a relaxing and natural sound.
